How safe are cellular phones?

May 21, 2010

If cellular phones turn out to be NOT as safe as we are made to believe, there are going to be a lot of people in South Beach who will end up with health problems down the road.

Everywhere I look, I see people holding cellular phones to their heads. I'm in an internet cafe in South Beach right now, and I just took this picture from where I'm sitting: there are 3 separate people holding a cellular phone to their heads in that one picture alone.

how safe are cellular phones
I use my iPhone extensively, but almost exclusively for data, as a sort of small tablet PC that fits in my pocket, and when I make a rare phone call, I usually try to use a headset, either wired or bluetooth, to increase the distance between the radio antenna in the phone and my very important brain.

The radio antenna in your cellular phone is talking to a cellular tower which may be quite far away, and while you're on an active phone call, the power emitted by that radio antenna is not something you want your brain exposed to, regardless of how many studies come out showing there are no risks involved.

In comparison, Bluetooth radio signals are much, much weaker since they only operate over a few feet, and I choose to ignore the risks from Bluetooth, just like I choose to ignore (possibly at my own peril) any possible risks associated with WI-FI, because WI-FI is so convenient! I can't live without WI-FI!

I think it is wise and prudent to use a headset when making voice calls on a cellular phone.

Which is better? A $400/month 12x12 room with no air conditioning and no bathroom, or a free jail cell?

As I wrote yesterday, I plan to leave South Beach soon and vandwell my way to Fairfield, Iowa for the summer. Here is a video that shows the kind of rental $400/month will get you in South Beach. I'd rather sleep in my van and save the monthly rent payment.

As you watch this video, I encourage you to compare this $400/month 12x12 room in South Beach with no air conditioning and no bathroom, to a jail cell where inmates get fed 3 square meals per day and have medical care all provided for free at taxpayers expense.

Who is worse off? The inmate or the renter of that room?

Over the past 23 years, California has built 23 prisons and only 1 university. Again I won't provide a reference for this statistic. Google it yourself and find out about the country you live in.

We need to stop building prisons that we cannot afford, and start teaching our children Transcendental Meditation, if we are going to have a bright future.

A word about vandwelling: I am writing a lot about vandwelling these days, not only because I am currently sleeping in my van and that is my reality right now, but also to try to help anyone out there who is contemplating vandwelling as a means to escape having to pay rent every month, either by choice or by necessity.

Soon there may be more and more people exploring the vandwelling lifestyle as the economic situation deteriorates in the U.S., which I believe is what is going to happen.

I believe that economic conditions in the United States are going to get extremely dire ("dire" means UGLY, REAL UGLY), and I believe it's a good idea for everyone to prepare for the coming economic tidal wave and become as SELF-SUFFICIENT as possible.

I believe that the excessive debt that the countries of the world have taken on is coming back to haunt them and now we all have to face the music. I believe that the excessive printing of money will result in hyperinflation in the U.S., which will render savings in U.S. dollars worthless. Those who have their wealth in tangible assets will be less affected than those whose wealth is in U.S. dollar assets.

I am organizing my life in such a way that I will be able to live comfortably on very little income.
