I think that is interesting because that is sort of what attracts me to vandwelling. My van, my metal shell, is my home. Where ever I will go, I will be home.
I think of my van as my "cave". I can lock the doors, pull the curtain, sit in the lotus position, close my eyes and meditate and not have a care in the world.

This was my routine today:

Wake up in my - Empty bladder - Brush teeth, do "oil pulling" for healthy gums - Have green tea with all my usual herbs (gotu kola, ashwagandha, bacopa monnieri, etc) - Glass of goat milk with a little ghee, turmeric, whey protein, a little bee pollen. - Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program - Yoga asanas inside my van (I can do a shoulder stand without touching the van's roof - the Sprinter is TALL) - Bicycle to the beach - swim in the ocean. - Sit in the grass at a nearby park with my electronic gadgets (iPhone, iPod touch, Verizon MIFI) and take care of business on the internet. - Bicycle back home, stop at Walgreens and buy 4 white t-shirts for $10! - Bicycle to my attorney's office to defend myself against my ex-wife's lawsuit. - Eat dinner on the beach (quinoa + veggies + spices in a stainless steel thermos. The hot water cooks the quinoa inside the thermos over time. Energy-efficient cooking!) - Head home. Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program. While I meditate, I charge all my internet gizmos, LED lights, headphones, etc. with my deep cell batteries which got charged during the day by the solar panels on the roof of my van.
- Spend the evening reading, emailing and snacking on crystallized ginger bits, organic dates and nuts. - In bed by 10:00PM. |
Tomorrow, a friend of mine will be installing a solar vent on the roof of my van. The vent is covered with small solar panels. The sunlight hits the solar panels on the vent and powers a small fan inside the vent which pulls warm air from the inside of the van and expels it outside.
I also use this great little fan inside my van. Surprisingly powerful and only 12 volts, which my solar panels can easily handle.
I like Dr. Wayne Dyer's quote about "turtles always being HOME". Where ever I will go in my van, I will be home. You can read more about my vandwelling experiment here. |
