Healing and losing weight using cold thermogenesis.

Cold Thermogenesis is a powerful tool to lose weight and reduce inflammation in the body. I find that morning sungazing while grounding myself to the earth (barefoot on soil) in cold temperatures is a fantastic way to start the day!

Cold Thermogenesis lower inflammation, empties your fat cells and benefits the mitochondria. Cold Thermogenesis depletes glycogen in the muscles like exercise does which stimulates hormone production.

Prolonged and controlled cooling of the skin can induce selective “damage", and force cell death (apoptosis) in fat cells without damaging the overlying skin or the underlying muscles.

This new scientific information was first studied in pigs in 2008 and subsequently tested in humans and found to be very effective for removing fat in certain selected areas of the body. The expensive medical procedure called "CoolSculpting" is based on the principle of Cold Thermogenesis. But you can use Cold Thermogenesis for free at home.

 

 

 

Cold Thermogenesis by immersion in water or exposure to cold air?

When skin cold receptors perceive cold temperatures over a period of 2 weeks, leptin is liberated from fat cells in large quantities. Leptin is the master hormone in the body. Leptin controls all energy metabolism in the body. Cold Thermogenesis lowers body fat, increases Growth Hormone production, favorably impacts telomere lengths and improves autophagy efficiency. Autophagy is critical for longevity: it is the process responsible for the housecleaning of our cells during sleep. (Other things which increase autophagy and fasting, turmeric and exercise).

I use both ice cubes and my girlfriend's MS cold packs when doing Cold Thermogenesis in my bath tub.

I use a piece of Saran wrap to cover the overflow drain. This allows me to completely fill my bathtub - I don't enjoy sitting in 6 inches of water!

According to neurosurgeon Dr. Jack Kruse, Cold Thermogenesis by immersion in cold water (50 to 55 degrees, no lower) is about 20 times more efficient than Cold Thermogenesis by exposure to cold air, because water is a better conductor of cold.

If, like me, you are having a problem completely filling up your bathtub, because your tub's overflow drain leaks water as soon as your tub is half-full, you don't need to buy special products to cover the overflow drain hole: the solution is to use a piece of Saran wrap to cover the overflow drain.

Once the water level is high enough, the pressure from the water pushing against the Saran wrap keeps the Saran wrap tightly in place and keeps the water from escaping the bathtub through the overflow drain.

In addition to Cold Thermogenesis by immersion in water or exposure to cold air, we can also use Cold Thermogenesis on select parts of the body using cold packs/ice packs.

In this photo, I am laying down flat on my back, enjoying a soothing cold thermogenesis session on my abdomen using my girlfriend's MS cold packs. You can use ice packs as well. Always use a layer of clothes between your skin and the ice packs to prevent frostbite.

 

Whichever method you choose, Dr. Kruse recommends eating a high fat (coconut oil and palm oil are rich in MCTs) and/or protein meal (oysters, sardines, whey) before the Cold Thermogenesis session. (about 45 minutes)

He also recommends drinking 16-32 oz. of ice cold water immediately prior to the Cold Thermogenesis session, because ice water is approximately 40 degrees Fahrenheit. In order to maintain this homeostasis, your body has to warm that ice water up by about 60 degrees (to about 98.6 degrees), and by definition, it takes 1 calorie to raise the temperature of 1 liter of water by approximately 2 degrees Fahrenheit. This means that to raise the temperature of 1 liter of ice water by 60 degrees Fahrenheit, your body burns about 30 calories.
