A better pasta: gluten-free chickpea pasta.

Today, Sharon and I are announcing that we have started a new business venture: we are making, in our kitchen, a new, better kind of pasta: a gluten-free pasta made from chickpeas - also known as "Garbanzo beans". A nutritious pasta that is gluten-free, high in protein, vitamins and minerals.

Conventional pasta contains GLUTEN and is basically empty calories, void of any nutrients. Gluten is a problem food for many people, and it's especially a bad idea for people with multiple sclerosis. Sharon has multiple sclerosis and she needs to stay away from gluten.

Sharon and I plan to offer our gluten-free chickpea pasta to local restaurants in Fairfield, IA and through my website We are starting small, making our chickpea pasta in our kitchen using a pasta crank. We will be setting up a kickstarter campaign to help us raise funds to help us scale production. The people who will help us by investing in our kickstarter campaign will receive our chickpea pasta at a discount as well as other benefits in exchange for helping us.

Why is wheat pasta a problem?

Wheat contains gluten and gluten is a protein that causes problems for many people, whether they are aware that gluten is the cause of their health problems or not.

Corn is also a problem: most of the corn in the U.S. is genetically modified (GMO). The safety of genetically engineered foods is very much still in question. Genetically modified foods are either banned in over 40 countries around the world, or at least labeled as "Genetically Modified". In the U.S., not only are these "foods" not banned, they are not even LABELED as such, so the consumer has no idea that they are eating/feeding their children foods that are genetically engineered.

Anything made from wheat or corn can be made from chickpeas, which is much healthier option.
