Soak away your stress in a warm Epsom salt bath.Tuesday October 27 , 2009. I have a deep, dark secret which I want to share with the entire galaxy.
There, I said it.
Taking an Epsom salt bath is an excellent way to replenish one's magnesium reserves. There has been a lot of attention given to the importance of calcium in the press in recent years. Magnesium is an overlooked mineral in most people's diet and yet is is tremendously important. The magnesium sulfate contained in Epsom salt is absorbed through the skin when one takes a warm Epsom salt bath. It sedates the nervous system and relaxes muscles. Magnesium helps the body regulate over 325 enzymes and helps organize many bodily functions such as electrical impulses and energy production in the body. The magnesium in an Epsom salt bath can also help to reduce blood pressure. Magnesium is absorbed poorly through the stomach, however magnesium sulfate disolved in a warm bath is easily absorbed through the skin. Personally, I just love being able to soak in my bathtub while reading the news on my iPhone, sending annoying emails to my friends in Fairfield Iowa, or watching my youtube video subscriptions. What a wonderful way to get things done! Someone should pay me for this.
